Ride Description:

This ride was following a 2.5 hour drive from Greenville, South Carolina. I was just glad to slip in some sort or ride this weekend. While we were visiting we ventured into North Carolina as well. It was a great to see a lot of cyclist in the city of Greenville and near Brevard. We saw a larger group coming out of Brevard and I was thinking how wimpy I would be trying to ride with those guys. I don't think there is a flat road anywhere in that area.

Ride Description:

I need to log this before I forget. The first ten miles or so I had this weird feeling as if I just had a massive release of adrenaline and the shakiness and slight fatigue following. However, I was able to hold pace fairly well and could have had a decent pace going out had there been less congestion. It was almost a sick sort of feeling. The best I could manage at the turning point was a 17.8 avg. mph and that was not that great for me. There was also a slight headwind on the way out.

On the way back I was feeling like things were calming down with me and also on the path so I picked up the pace where I was able. The more miles I had on my legs the better they felt. Just an odd day and yet a blessed day.

Also it is interesting watching the local news and young girl with brain damage after a fall from a skateboard. She was a good athlete and playing on college softball team. Her parents were saying that her wishes were to tell people to wear a helmet on any of these type of activities. Yet today on the path I saw more than a dozen experienced looking cyclist moving a rapid pace and no helmets. That is their choice, but after having several crashes and fairly extensive wounds and in one case splitting a helmet I will continue to believe it is always good to be safe and wear a decent helmet.

Ride Description:

Solo spin around the BBC 31 loop from the Budweiser Plant. I rolled out and could feel the heat coming off the large parking lot and fatigue on my legs from yesterday. As I was rolling out it appeared that some of the few early morning cyclists and triathletes were finishing up.

During the course there were no other cyclists and just a few cars. Coming back into the lot I see Neal about to head out for about the same miles. Nice day and nice break from my normal Sunday routine at the Comet.

Ride Description:

I was invited to join the small group riding from the Budweiser Plant that turned out to be a much bigger group of 20 or more at Sosebee Bike Park. It was great to see and briefly chat with several of the friends I have not seen in a while, but after we rolled it the paced picked up. I held on until Trimble Hollow Road and about 30 miles and I simply did not have the fitness to keep that pace until the end so I dropped out to ride something a bit more on my current level of terrible and discouraging fitness level.

(too many names to give a shout out here, but I will just say I appreciate each of you)

Instead of stopping at the store I continued on and was in front of the group until I was caught just after the Interstate hill, which is a section of road that is parallel to I-75. I continued on my pace with Gary joining me for a few miles until we saw Debbie sitting in the road changing a tube so we stopped to help or just be with her. After this Mike joined me to head back to the brewery and most everyone else continued on to Sosebee Bike Park.

Out and Back Spin

I have to say that I am loving the Felt IA16. It may be the bottom of the line for the IA models and yet even with the lower end mechanical group it still performs very well for me. Even with being in the worst condition that I have been in for the last few years I am still setting some PR's at times. I can't wait to see what I can do with this bike once I get in some consistent training.

Out and Back Easy Spin.
I am lacking that base fitness compared to previous years. Today I felt the fatigue from the easy ride yesterday and that should not happen. I tried a couple of light sprints toward the end just to see what the legs could do at this point and they were not happy and very uncooperative.
