Formerly a successful lightweight competitive bodybuilder for eight years I had won numerous competitions. In 1993 I qualified for the NPC Nationals, but decided at that point it was a good time to get out of that scene even though I still have the passion to continue to lift.
In 1996 I committed my life to Christ and have never regretted that decision. Since that point my life has taken a drastic turn for the good. I met Cindi at church and were soon married. What a blessing she has been and very supportive of the many training hours.
In 2004 I received a stern warning from my physician about my blood pressure. At 5' 6" and 190 lbs I had reached the pinnacle of putting on lean mass, but it came at a cost to my overall health. Knowing that I had to improve and being too heavy to run I began cycling.
Present day I have lost some of that lean mass and I am down to 161 lbs., feel much better and I am absolutely addicted to cycling and I would say road cycling for the most part. I am a roadie, but a recreational roadie. This blog is nothing more than sharing one of my passions in life, which is cycling and training for cycling. Even if I never make it above recreational level I do enjoy training as if I could compete someday.
