I am not sure if it was training during the week or what it was, but my legs just did not want to participate today. They did improve a little based on feeling about mile 40, but it was just one of those days I guess.

Weather was kind of dreary as well and has been for days now. It has rained pretty much all week, but the blessing was getting just enough break at the right time for a Saturday morning quick ride before the next weather front moves in this afternoon with more rain.

Looks like I will be back on the trainer for the Sunday afternoon session.

Endurance Type Ride, keep the cranks spinning

Ride Description:

A real blessing to see Keith B. rolling out for a solo ride and then get to see Edgar, Cristi and Urbano going out for a spin.

Not much to say on my part other than it is always sweet to get out to spin a few miles in nice weather. I had a bit of a light headwind on the way up and decided at the base of Fort Mountain that I best turn around. My TT bike isn't geared for climbing like my road bike and I did not want to put out that much energy and still have half a ride left.

I enjoyed the ride and I had a put a little more into I may have come closer to that 5 hour mark, but for this point in the season I okay with this ride.

Brewery Solo 80 - Windy Ride

Endurance Type Ride, keep the crank spinning

Ride Description:

That was one of the most brutal solo rides that I can remember doing. The wind was coming from the north with about a 11 mph sustained and hard gusts that hit every few seconds. It was both a challenge to go forward and the also keep the bike from being blown out into traffic or off the road. With almost 40 miles of sustained headwind fortunately had about 40 miles with a tailwind for a reward and that was sweet.

It was a hard push resulting in a 16 mph avg. @ 80% FTP on the way up and 19 mph avg. cruise @ 65% FTP on the way back. Wind!!! It's a love hate relationship. Just depends which way it's blowing.

With the new tune-up from Cannon Cyclery and new Continental GP4000 tires the bike felt really good.
