XLAB Gear Box

I am replacing the Xlab small pod for the new gear box because the lid on the pod would come off easily and I had fear of of losing some of the essentials (especially car key fob) out in the middle of nowhere and not realize it.

Very tight grip in the Xlab Gorilla cage. No worries about losing it.

Comparison between the small pod and the gear box

What was in the Xlab small pod (key fob not shown)

The extra air cartridge did not make it, but that can be carried in the rear pocket.

Endurance

Ride Description:

Ya just never know how it will go until you get a few miles into it. I thought it was going to be a rough day going by how I felt all week and some pretty sorry indoor intervals and queasy stomach all week, but it seemed to go a bit better.

Since the wind was coming from the north I buckled down and endured the headwind going up and enjoyed the tailwind coming back.

Enjoy the day

Ride Description:

I missed my long Saturday ride due a water heater replacement and spent most of that day working on some home projects while waiting for the plumbers to finish. At least some of those things are done and hopefully I will have more time to cycle in the good weather.

Today was just an opportunity to get out and enjoy the sunshine and warmth wearing my lightest summer kit by Desoto and plenty of 30 sweat proof sunblock.

JRA -  Just Riding Around

I did get to speak to Tiago Depaula, owner of Try Bike Shop that recently opened in Marietta. I hope to drop by for a visit very soon. http://trybikeshop.com/

Endurance

Ride Description:

I think this is at least the third weekend with sharp cool winds coming down from the north. My plan was to get up and get going early with hope to put in some of the miles going north with lighter headwinds. I started with Mike, but he wasn't feeling it today so I went ahead. I know it was tough choice for him to make, but it was probably a wise choice. The ride for me going north was not easy and as I started getting within a couple miles of the 40 mile turn point I was pushing against headwinds that brought me down to 5 mph and pushing with everything I had. So I turned early and headed back

It was also nice to meet Eugene, who was one of the rare brave souls to get out and face the wind. I got to ride and chat with him for a few miles. Best wishes to him in preparation of his 2016 race season and maybe I will get to try to hang on his wheel on some of those training rides.

Just ride and enjoy the day

Ride Description:

I was out for my typical Sunday cruise and enjoying the sunny day when Michael, a stranger, caught up with me on the way back. From that point I enjoyed pacing with Michael back to the parking area at the zero mile marker. What a great guy and a solid cyclist. It was a pleasure trying to hang on his wheel and best wishes as you begin to train for your Ironman competition this year.

I also met an elderly guy at the 20 mile turning point and chatted with him for a few minutes. He told me about just returning from a 3 day venture from Alabama to Georgia in preparation for a 470 mile (I think that what he said) venture cycling the Natchez Trace. Best wishes to them on the preparation and safe travels.

Ride Description:

It was a real beating to push north against some sharp headwind. Even though I had tailwinds on the return I was a bit too tired to really hammer back. Nice to be out on the Felt and sit in a solo endurance type pace. I was actually pretty tired at the start from intervals this week.
