Ride Description:
Looking at the weather and news of a recent tornado that crossed through north of Cartersville, I decided to head south to the Comet and just do some saddle time. Interesting to see Mark made the same choice as I stopped to talk with him briefly. We just happen to be going opposite directions and with slightly different training plans.
I thought it would be a good day to try out my new Giro Empire SLX shoes and first pair of lace ups. Maybe I'll do a short review later, but for now they felt as good as my old pair of Giro ProLight. I am pretty happy so far. I still liked the simplicity of the 3 velcro straps on my old pair, but these days it is either lace up or boa on the higher end shoes.

Ride Description:
Waking up this morning and first daylight I could see the tops of the trees swaying back and forth. It was one of those mornings of struggling with motivation. Even where to park and how many miles was a struggle. I finally decided to park at Sosebee Bike Park and just see how it would go. I wasn't too long into the ride and pushing against the wind that I realized it was going to be the short ride. Still nice to be outside instead of sitting on the trainer.

Out and back and spin. I started off from the brewery in heavy fog and heavy enough to feel like a fine mist. Fortunately it cleared off fairly quickly. A couple of times a group came by with Mark in the group. After turning back on my route I see Mark coming toward me. The ride back was trying to keep up with him or he was patiently pacing behind me as I struggled.
I have a long way to dig out of this hole, but I am encouraged the last couple of days from indoor training. I just need to stay consistent and be patient.

Starting my drive up to the brewery it was lightly raining with the forecast to clear up by the time I would get to the Budweiser Plant. The other part was hold cold it felt despite the temperatures listed. I felt more like in the high 30's than in the 40's. About an hour into it the sun popped out briefly and it warmed up enough to take off the lightweight wind jacket.
There were very few at the Bud Plant or at Sosebee Cycling Park. I suppose it probably seemed like a better day to stay in and yet I am glad I at least got in a few miles.
